A Wildlife Garden in Cumberland

This is part of a larger build at a beautiful and secluded property in north Cumbria. The driveway was just a load of very heavy clay soil topped with grass and weeds from the adjacent fields. The design was created to give a sense of privacy with a contemporary feel, that would be low maintenance and cope with whatever the rural northern weather could throw at it. Probably the heaviest clay I have ever had to work with and I'd be lying if I said it didn't almost physically break me but the results prove that with the right plants, and a sufficient amount of bull-headedness, a garden can not just survive but thrive, no matter the obstacles.
