Physic Garden

During the hight of the pandemic where luckily my industry was exempt from the restrictions (outdoor spaces being our predominant office) I was tasked with creating a low maintenance garden for my clients who are both doctors in the NHS, to enjoy and relax in. I came up with a very low maintenance design with a physic garden filled with a huge variety of native medicinal plants, to reflect the professions of the clients. The retaining wall was rebuilt and the shrubs and grass removed. Two new low raised beds were built to hem in the seating area and posts and wires were added to the far fence boundary where heritage apple trees are planted and will be trained into espaliers to provide added privacy from the neighbouring properties. This garden was a real joy to design and build and I always felt incredibly fortunate to be able to carry on working (even just by myself) when so many others could not.
